As promised on the last update, this is the point this comic really (and happily) dives into the 'adults only' territory.

Saphyr has some pent up aggravation she needs to get rid of (and who can blame her), so these lowlanders were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sure, they would ultimately have been executed anyway (filthy heathens and all), but there are better ways to go than bleeding out after having your shin snapped in half and part of your leg torn off. At least I suspect there are...though with the huntresses, you never know.

This page was a blast to draw and I like he way it came out. I'm especially pleased with the way the framing of Saphyr's face by the arc of blood was as I had originally imagined it. There are a couple of bits that could have been pulled off better (I'll leave you to judge), but I'm looking forward to more action like this (and the next pages won't disappoint in that regard I hope!)

This weekend The Cull will crack the 5,000 viewer mark, so to celebrate I'll post a pin-up of some sort next weekend.

Thanks again for the kind comments!

She's off to a good start. And if she survives what of her mother?

They will clash again - but we have a lot of story (and killing) to go before then!

I love your comic, but I am fascinated by the global trend of women being portrayed as unstoppable super killers that can easily destroy even a 250 pound male body builder with ease. I see this trend everywhere, in movies, T.V. shows, comics, and in a symbolic way, politics and the workplace. Is this a sign of things to come? There is a phenomenon known as "predictive programming" where society is conditioned to accept new stereotypes through mass media. I have also read that the military has experimented with a technique known as "horizontal gene transfer" where by the X chromosome is implanted with various genes that are preferable for creating a superior warrior: this was known as the "super soldier project". Based on these two pieces of information, I wonder if in the future, there will be a dramatic paradigm shift where women become absolutely dominant in every way, not just intellectually, but physically as well.

I agree - there is a trend and it is interesting to contemplate why there is. I don't think there is a conspiracy to push dominant female characters - I just think it's a natural reaction to decades of such characters being underrepresented (and they still are the minority).

I should also point out that there is a reason Saphyr has the strength to do this kind of stuff - but that is part of the mystery behind the Hive and this world that will be revealed as the story unfolds.

Phew! Ha Ha
I was worried you would have been freaked out by my whacky comment.
Thanks for giving me a serious and thoughtful answer!

DAMN, but this is an exceptionally well-drawn page. The Cull is currently a permanent fixture on my "I Really Need To Archive Binge" list. I look forward to having the time to read it all.
